Calverton National Cemetery

Located in eastern Long Island and set against the backdrop of New York’s rich scenery, Calverton National Cemetery is one of the largest and most active cemeteries managed by the National Cemetery Association. During the late 1990s, the site was expanded by 35 acres and Aqua Engineering was contracted as the irrigation design consultant. Similar to other expansion projects, our engineers were careful to design an irrigation system that matched the existing irrigation design approach and equipment.

Design and implementation construction documents for a centralized control system were created for the entire site. Implementation of centralized control includes central controller, demolition and replacement of existing field controllers, and an on-site weather station.

Aqua Engineering’s emphasis on water-conserving designs drives us to use alternative water sources when available. At Calverton National Cemetery, we designed the irrigation system to use well water from four separate wells to irrigate the site.
