Water Conservation Analysis for Denver Water

Denver Water desired assessments for 124 Denver Public School (DPS) sites, 89 Jefferson County Public School (Jeffco), and 6 Sheridan School District sites to determine water conservation opportunities. Water conservation opportunities at each site focused on three main areas: indoor end-use fixtures, indoor process water, and outdoor irrigation water use.

Aqua Engineering led the assessments for outdoor water conservation opportunities. Our engineers, landscape irrigation auditors, and support staff completed site visits for over 200 facilities during the summer of 2009.

Results of the assessments are compiled into a comprehensive report for Denver Water. Preliminary findings indicate significant water and cost savings can be achieved by improving irrigation system management and maintenance, improving controller programming, replacing outdated controllers, and properly installing rain sensors.
